The Importance of Eyebrow Position

April / May is usually the time Aucklanders enjoy the Comedy Festival. Warming up to a performance she wants me to go to with her, my daughter showed me the following video clip! Have Fun!

On Children: Kahlil Gibran

Kahlil-gibran-drawing-archer-living-arrows Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.

I love this poem! It so clearly affirms the rights of children to find their own future unhindered and unharmed from other people's thoughts and actions. Do you like it too?

Santa is coming

KrippeWe celebrate Christmas in honour of the birth of baby Jesus. In that spirit we celebrate and express our joy towards children and the promise they bring to our lives.

Many children – especially children and grown-up people who end up reading this blog and are on the way to recovery from sexual abuse – did not have joyous memories of Christmas. Instead, some may have memories of hurt, fear, and hardship.

I thought I wanted to remind readers of the origin of Christmas. Lets celebrate the wonder, life force, spontaneity, creativity, fun, love, innocence and generosity that is inherent in children. Inner children as much as children in your outside life.

Here is a big HUG for YOU! Hugs39

Enjoying Spring Time

JumpingFrogWith the month of May not being far away, most places experience now much warmer weather. Is the sun calling you to go outside and have some fun – maybe even get your hands dirty from mud-pie?

Have you ever watched frogs playing in a creek or lake? Do you have the opportunity to see some other animals?I'd love to hear from you. It's lots of fun to look for animals.

You could even do some drawings with a whole farm yard full of animals. If you send me a picture that you made (drawn or photo), I will post it here for everyone to enjoy! 🙂

Friends Inside & Out

Teddy bears Pictures, Images and PhotosHow about you get together with a friend – either from the inside or from the people around you and have some fun time … or cuddly time?

I found these two Teddies and thought, how much fun must it be to snuggle up with a cute blanket.

How about you come up with some ideas and tell me about them? I'd love to hear what people are up to!

Summer Fun

LifeguardBear
Hello !

This is a reminder for all the kids out there – take care when you go to the beach! Make sure you are safe and most of all:

    protect yourself from the sun!

You can have lots of fun at the beach. You can collect beautiful shells, you can look for special stones and little rocks, you can find little swimming creatures in rock pools, or you can snorkel and pretend that you are a fish.

If you take a bucket and a little shovel, you can build a sand castle. Whatever you do, you can have lots of fun at the beach! Enjoy every moment!

If you want to see more bear pictures, go to the website where I found this photo.

ENJOY

The Laughing Zebra

Zebra_001Are you wondering why I am talking about Zebras? Fair enough – its not exactly what you'd expect when you look for ideas about recovery from sexual abuse and dissociation, isn't it?

The thing is – and who knows me will not be surprised – I have a special spot in my heart for "the littlelies". I know that in most cases it's the young children parts that hold a lot of the hurt and a lot of the painful memories. AND I HATE KIDS HURTING!
